  3. Evening All,

Just to let you know I have uploaded loads of pics from Butts Quarry at the following website -

    http://didphotography.smugmug.com

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did attending, I think I have just about got all the dust out, I even helped one female rider out of the trees after 'coming a cropper' result - One burn from a very hot exhaust and a broken lense on the camera - Dohhh, but loved every minute of it.

Cracking event and I will be looking out for the next one.

    Cheers

    Dave

  4. Hi, great event, loved it. Just one comment about the report Gina, it reads very well but I have to complain about one part!!!!
You put I was on the tail of Damian for the duration of the race, I was in fact leading the race for most of it until about last half hour when I pitted and came back out in second place. I was gutted, I nearly got it back in the last wood section but got stuck behind someone. So just a small complaint but it means alot to me. Otherwise had a great day could do it again!

  6. Hi just a brief note of thanks to the true grit team for organising such a fantastic ironman event staged in the splendid Butts Quarry at Ashover in Derbyshire on the weekend of 3rd July 2011...
Ask a 12 year girl what she wants to do for her birthday and you would probably get answers like,
" can I have an ice skating party " or "Can I have the latest JUSTIN BEIBER" album. Unfortunately the answer I got was can I do an ironman with my pal Nieve Holmes !

So that was it.. she was on the list ... and not wanting to be left out so was the old man, at a not so youthful 43 years I wasnt sure if this was something I could do... I am more of a jelly bean than an IRON MAN.
The sun came out as well as a wholesome entry of eager Iron men and to be politically correct iron ladies...and girls who were courageous enough to put themselves up for this emense challenge. ! The event itself was second to none, with friendly helpful faces at signing on through to fact that there were plenty of marshals to help out where needed. I think I speak for the the rest of the riders when I say that the track was spot on, utilising parts of Butts that had never seen a knobbly before. It was fun yet challenging to ride..again a lot of thought had gone into the layout of the course which was well marked out . The riders who decided to sit this one out definately missed out on a real corker ! For me The ride itself was real enjoyable up until around the the 3 hour mark which is when I went into zombie mode. i know this because my jaw drops and i start to dribble which was difficult with a mouthful of dust. Whilst on the subject of dust some of the spectators looked like extras from the film "apocolypse now " they were absolutely covered... in particular I take my hat off to the lovely lady taking photos.. Man she looked like she had just walked through a desert for two weeks... and then back again ...(Gina tell me that wasn't yr that wasn't your mam ?)
Thanks again for a great day we all enjoyed it lots. To Julian Holmes sorry I couldnt make the presentation I was busy trying to stay upright .
Just want to say that I still cant move.. and my rear end resembles something you'd see on african baboon.!
    Until next time !

  12. Elliot Shaw here :)

    What a fantastic weekend!

Track was fab, i usually don't like driffield alot, but it was ALOT better than any other driffield track iv ridden befor, was better the open spaces and shorter laps it felt more like a competetive race, i loved it!

Was well orgonised so great job TGOR and Bewlay family :)

And though i don't know who crashed, Gotta say that air amburlance was there fast within a few mins of the crash, so gotta give credit to them guys and who ever was injured speedy recovery!

Roll on the next DBT / TGOR Event :) See ya there!

  15. Dear True Grit

The venue was spot on the weather was perfect the marshalls were plentiful and did a fantastic job the sport would be lost without them . Now for a moan the track was very poorly marked out no where near enough tape to guide riders hence a free for all took place at certain parts of the course ? how much does a roll of tape cost? buy in bulk not much ! or perhaps the money you save on providing poor tropheys could be diverted to the tape fund ?

    Regards Ian

  16. what a day! All was going well, had great weather, track was spot on and well organised. However 2hrs in, i had an off and broke my collar bone in two places! Not a happy bunny. Paramedics were ace and sorted me out good with gas an air an plenty of tramadol. Gonna be 8 weeks before i'll be back on the bike at the least. So much for a good start to the season. Thanks to my Dad and good mate Dave Rothery for washing my bike and getting the van and me back home. Special thanks to paramedics Dave and Tina and the staff at bridlington hospital.
